Out on the streets for children!

Share

Today 10 friends set off at 6.00 am on the streets of Wellington.

At 7 am we were at out allocated locations meeting the collectors that have volunteered for this street appeal. It was a cold, cloudy and as usual a windy day in Wellington.

We have now completed 2/3 of the collection and the response from the Wellington public has been unbelievable. With the evening session to go we are now having a brake and will be back on the streets at 4.30 pm.

This has been a rewarding experience for each of us (friends) and we cannot wait to count the donations tonight and hand it over to UNICEF.

We would like to thank all the volunteers (over 75 in total) who braved the cold and wet conditions and helped us collect these donations. We would also like to thanks the team at UNICEF for their support and all the amazing work they do in Sri Lanka and once again thank the Wellington public for their generosity.

Thanks you, Joseph Abeysinghe on behalf of the UNICEF Sri Lanka Street Appeal Committee.
