The magic of Christmas in Copenhagen…
Our local school visit was incredible. Back in NZ the teachers wear suits, the days are jam packed and a smile is hard to come by. Here in Denmark the teachers and students are relaxed, easy going, and happy with themselves and their surroundings. When talking to the Princess of Denmark I got the feeling that their nation is proud of the things it has achieved, which I feel is often not the case in New Zealand.
I also think I have never met people who are so passionate about Christmas. I think that in New Zealand we are so tired after a year of work that we forget the magic and purpose of Christmas. Here, they have put up a giant Christmas tree in the city square and the fairy lights are powered by people riding stationary bikes! The atmosphere is amazing and exciting. Being here really is a once in a lifetime experience.
